The Arc de Triomphe is a famous landmark in Paris, France, located at the western end of the Champs-Elysees. It is 162 feet tall, and made of limestone covered with carving and engraving. Twelve avenues radiate out from the Arc which is why the location used to be called La Place de L'Etoile (the place of the star). Construction was begun in 1810 and completed in 1836. If you are strong enough to climb 284 steps to the top you will have to pay 12 Euros, but you will be rewarded by a panoramic view of Paris.
